A CALL TO ARTISTS — Art Gallery Opening

Hi! My name is Tammy Dunlavey.  My husband and I are opening an art gallery in Findley Lake NY this March.  I am writing to you as a call to artists who may want to place artwork in our gallery.

“Brushes Of Spring” — April 23-25, 2010

The Spring Show’s title was decided on at the February’s Meeting. January, we decided to reinstate a calling list, of which the result was fruitful. Thank you to all that came and participated in getting the Guild ready for this Spring’s Show.
At
February’s meeting, President Wendy Neckers had an extensive list of things to be done (in preparation of the show). Several members attending, volunteered to get those needs accomplished. However, we still need more volunteers as we get closer to the show’s opening date: April 23.
Entries allowed for this year’s show are no more than 4 images and one fake (optional).

We will again offer to our members a chance to enter a “Challenge” piece. This year’s challenge: One image in several different styles and/or mediums, photos, realism, cubism, surrealism, dadaism, corryism and mime.

Longtime member Lynne Myers spoke about a grant the Warren Art League received for Art Therapy for returning soldiers. She is looking for supply donations, like paper, paints, and drawing supplies, etc. Contact Lynne Myers for more information.

WE NEED STORIES! Not only for our Newletters, but the website needs information, too. We are paying for a service that few of our members use. So why not use it to show your talents? One never knows who is looking at our site. Our computer guru Steven Campbell needs images of your artwork, and news stories about you, your art, and your career. (For the newsletter — No previously printed articles, please!)

We are close with the progress of our Sargent Fake! A super “high five” to all the participants! All panels have been located and now have been assembled. As we are near completion, Carolyn Vanderhoff has a Monday evening workshop at her home on Spring Street. It starts at 7:00pm and runs until 9:00pm. A few of the panels need to be worked on and all the edges of each panel needs to be painted, due to the imperfections of the canvases. Please call Carolyn in advance of Monday evening if you are planing to attend the workshop. Many of you who were at the meeting have already expressed an interest in getting this project complete; we will see you there!

Any one interested in applying for the Artists’ Guild Scholarship, contact Wendy Neckers for applications. Applications need to be completed by March 23.

!!!VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
Please mark your calendars for March 8 and April 12 Artists Guild Meetings.
